Its so simply and easy to make, I am definitely making a few of these over the holidays.
All you need is; piece 2 x 1 timber, something like this

and a selection of door knobs like these beautiful ones I sourced from E-bay but they can be found in most hardware stores.

Paint the timber in the colour of your choice and screw the knobs in. Perfect for the bedroom for hanging handbags, jewelry or even coats. ❤

Shabby to Vintage

I was searching for some material for a previous design, when I came across  this fabulous fabric… Initially I thought I would have no use for it as it was such a specific pattern, so I left it,but I wasn’t long rushing back to order it as I just couldn’t get it out of my head, and I think it’s perfect used this way,.. The material is discontinued now which is such a pity, I managed to get the last bit sent down from Home Focus in Galway, which made me love it all the more http://www.homefocus.ie/ .

After sourcing the material I went on the hunt for the paint, I used this great tool on the colortrend website which allowed me to post a picture of my material and compare it to the different colors. http://color-is.getservd.net/. Then just collected it in the store.. The paint used was 0504 / Indian Tears . I wanted something that would compliment the fabric but also let the fabric stand out.. I hope it did…

Homemade memo boards

Image

I am or I used to be a disaster for loosing important notes, or never having enough room for all the BEAUTIFUL artwork that used to come home from creche for me, or when I get a letter it went into a pile never to be seen again…. I knew I needed a notice board in the kitchen but I could only ever find cork notice boards, that lets be honest should only ever be in an office or someplace similar. So I searched around for the right material and started making my own. What I needed; some wadding so that if I wanted to use some push pins, I could use the wadding as cushion, I used elastic bias binding (comes in a variety of colours), I used bias binding so I could pull it back when slipping a notice into it and it wouldn’t loose shape. Lastly I asked a friend of mine who is a carpenter for some left over MDF (anything will do as it will be covered). Measure up the material and wadding and cut to size wrap it around the MDF and pull tight and staple gun the edges to the back, wrap the binding in whatever way you want and DONE. I made a few for friends, and added buttons to some and used different colour material, its a really nice addition to the kitchen and keeps the school calendar nice and safe!

Storage

Storage is my worst nightmare, I just seem to never have room for anything, I searched everywhere for something large enough to suit my needs but also pretty enough to match my decor. SO…… I took matters into my own hands and made one myself. I didn’t use expensive wood as I was painting it and covering it with wadding and material. Firstly I cut down the panels to size, (had to receive a bit of help from a friend for this ) and they put it together, all materials used cost about €25 euro which can be sourced from any hardware, I painted it in the left over paint I had from my hall and covered it in what was the last of my favorite country kitchen material, that I bought in Ryan’s Decorators, Mayors Walk, Waterford (where I buy all my fabrics) https://www.facebook.com/RyansDesignInteriors Simply just wrapped the wadding and material and staple gunned the sides to the underneath, and last I added handles and wheels. My favorite buy were the handles, a pack of 6 for €6.99 in TK Max, I fell in love with them instantly, and the good news is I only needed 2… This storage box now fits underneath my stairs and can be pulled out easily and pushed right back in again. Image
